Pictured here for the first time Zimmerman’s ex-fiancée, 31 year old Veronica Zuazo, seen below, is the woman who prompted his wife Shellie, 26, to finally end their marriage after she filed for divorce last week. Earlier this week, a chance encounter at the house of Shellie’s father led to Zimmerman’s estranged wife confronting him about cheating.
It quickly escalated into an argument that landed Zimmerman in handcuffs and questioned after she called 911 to claim he was threatening her with a gun. Shellie’s worst fears, that her husband had struck up an affair with his ex-fiancée Zuazo, were confirmed two to three weeks ago. According to close friend and confidante John Donnelly, who has known Zimmerman for close to a decade and regarded him as a son: ‘Shellie had her suspicions that George was having an affair with his ex-fiancée and that it flared up after the trial. ‘She went as far as to issue the ultimatum, “Don’t you ever bring that woman into my house.”’
Zuazo, a beautician, divorced her husband Octavio Castillo, three years ago. She and Zimmerman have a torrid history in which each has filed a restraining order against the other. In August 2005 Zuazo filed a civil motion for a restraining order in Orange County claiming domestic violence. She stated that Zimmerman had trailed her round her neighborhood, checking up on her, and in the dispute that followed her dog bit him.
Zimmerman responded with claims that she was the aggressor and that she scratched and clawed him.
Now investigators are trying to map out just what happened in the altercation between Zimmerman and his soon to be ex wife. According to Lake Mary Police Department Officer Zach Hudson, has rapidly deteriorated into a ‘typical “he said, she said” domestic.’
